Representing Australia's Downstream Petroleum Industry
Paul has a substantial career in business operations, public policy development, strategic planning and development, economics and corporate governance in corporate, government and academic roles. Paul joined AIP in 2003 and has worked on petrol pricing and regulation, fuel taxation reform processes, national fuel quality standards and incentives, refinery industry policy, and climate change. Paul is a member of several Boards including AIP and AMOSC and serves on a number of Commonwealth and State Government Statutory Committees and Advisory Panels.
Prior to joining AIP, Paul was the Senior Adviser for Competition and Energy Policy and Senior Adviser for the Environment in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. The roles included competition policy, Timor Sea Treaty negotiations, upstream oil and gas policy development, biofuels policy development, climate change, the national access regime, national fuel quality standards, downstream petroleum industry policy, and strategic investment incentives.
Nathan has worked for AIP since 2005. In his role, he provides policy and strategic advice to the AIP Board (comprising the CEOs of the major oil companies), and serves on a number of government-industry advisory committees including the National Oil Supplies Emergency Committee (NOSEC), the ATO Petroleum Corporate Consultation Forum (PCCF), the ACCC Fuels Consultative Committee and the Health Watch Advisory Committee. He is also an industry Councillor for Standards Australia.
Before joining AIP, Nathan served over ten years with The Treasury in a number of senior management roles, including the Manager of Energy, Transport and Communications. His Treasury service included time at the IMF Institute in Washington and serving on OECD and international committees and delegations. He was also seconded to the Prime Minister’s Energy Taskforce for 18 months (the 2004 Energy White Paper). Nathan holds a bachelor degree and first class honours degree in Economics, is a qualified Company Director, and was an Associate Lecturer in managerial economics for MBA students.
Peter joined AIP in late 2015. He provides government affairs and policy advice on a range of issues including climate change, biofuels, alternative fuels and fuel pricing. He also oversees AIP’s activities relating to site contamination and remediation (including CRC Care) and manages AIP’s sustainability programs.
He has previously worked in senior executive roles with a number of industry associations including the Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association (APPEA), Plastics & Chemicals Industries Association (PACIA) and the Winemakers’ Federation of Australia (WFA). He has also worked in the Federal Government bureaucracy and in private enterprise in the IT sector.
Nicky has worked as a Company Secretary since 1997 and for AIP since 2003. Nicky qualified as a Company Secretary through Chartered Secretaries Australia (now the Governance Institute of Australia) and is a Fellow of both GIA and the (international) Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators. Nicky extended her professional qualifications with an MBA from the University of New England in 2015 and was promoted to the combined role of CFO and Company Secretary at AIP in 2016.
In addition to Nicky’s financial and governance responsibilities at AIP, Nicky is also the CFO and Company Secretary of AIP’s wholly owned subsidiary – the Australian Marine Oil Spill Centre (AMOSC). Passionate about corporate governance, Nicky ensures that both organisations meet all legislative and best practice requirements, including through her Board positions and the expert advice she provides to Directors.
